Context: ABN, with over 30 years of experience and a leader in its sector, specializes in the manufacturing of piping systems with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation. Since its foundation, ABN has worked to ensure that its products and processes are as circular, recyclable, and recoverable as possible. This vision was solidified with the attainment of the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Certified® Certification and the C2C Certified Material Health Certificate™ v3.1 in 2020, and the upgrade and recertification of Product Circularity to version 4.0, achieving the Full C2C Certified® Gold level in March 2024.
Certified Product Description
Piping Systems
- ABN//EVAC ENERGY PLUS: a drainage system with three layers of polypropylene compound, designed to be soundproof, with mineral reinforcement and fire-retardant additives. It includes pipes and fittings that meet high safety and efficiency standards.
- ABN//INSTAL CT FASER RD: a piping system for hydraulic lines under pressure and temperature, made with three layers of PPR CT RP polypropylene and anti-expansion microfibers. It is designed to be resistant to disinfection processes, scaling, UV protection, and includes an oxygen barrier. This family includes products for hot and cold water, HVAC, fire networks, flexible applications, and joining techniques, creating sub-families like FIRE, FLEX, and WELDING ELECPIPE.

Recertify and expand product range while advancing to Product Circularity v4.0
ABN aimed to recertify its existing products and expand the family of certified products according to the C2C standard version 3.1, upgrading to Product Circularity category v4.0, and maintaining the Gold level.
Scope of the project
Eco Intelligent Growth (EIG) accompanied ABN throughout the process of recertification and improvement under the Cradle to Cradle Certified® standard.
Step by step
This certification includes the following steps:
- Understanding Product Health: identification of components and substances in the ABN//EVAC ENERGY and ABN//INSTAL CT FASER RD products, ensuring their compatibility with the highest levels of the Cradle to Cradle Certified® standard regarding material health. EIG worked closely with ABN and its supply chain to achieve this goal.
- Business Protocols: EIG supported ABN in the development and implementation of the necessary protocols and associated documentation, ensuring proper control of certified production. A review of the company’s environmental policies was conducted, setting future objectives for continuous improvement.
- Product Circularity Improvement: ABN upgraded the Product Circularity category to version 4.0 of the standard.
