Context:APR is Asia’s leading producer of viscose rayon, a wood-based material used for textile and personal care products. Viscose fibre can be used to produce knitted fabrics, baby clothes, shirts and dresses, high quality bed linen, towels, curtains, etc.

Scope of the project

Accompany the process of analysis and identification of all components of its viscose fibre product to achieve C2C Certified Material Health Certificate™.

Step by step

This certification includes the following steps:

• From the beginning of the project, EIG worked with APR to understand the focus of the analysis. The health assessment of the fibres and chemicals used in the process was carried out, contacting directly with the supply chain to have comprehensive knowledge from the origin of the product. 
• Worked closely with APR to obtain information about internal management systems and, specifically, environmental management systems, guiding APR to develop the information and documentation required for the C2C Certified Material Health Certificate™. Although APR already had its management system in place, the C2C Certified® standard program goes a step further and requires a high level of commitment, achievement, and monitoring of the systems in place. 
• As part of the study, all substances contained in Asia Pacific Rayon viscose fibre were analysed at the molecular level.  
• The cellulose used for the product was considered preferential due to its typology, certifications, and origin. 
• Most of the chemicals applied to give the necessary performance to the fibre are composed of substances that are healthy for people and the environment, although, there is potential for further refinement for certain substances.
