In 2014 the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute launches an innovative initiative for changing the world of fashion down to its roots: FASHION POSITIVE. It is about a movement towards a change of fashion industry, which is steered towards a positive impact by:

  •  Innovations in the supply chains
  • Providing grants and reduced interest loans to suppliers
  • Increase transparency
  • Creation of safe and perpetually recyclable materials for designers and brands

in this first phase, LEADERSHIP PHASE, companies with the power to change the market work together with their suppliers for optimising key products in cloth manufacturing. The intention is to create an open source  data base of certified products –  building blocks – available for all industry.

EIG is collaborating as General Assessor since the beginning of 2015, across the evaluation of products according to the criteria of Cradle to Cradle Certified TM. At the end of 2015, FAIR cashmere, the yarn made by Maiyet, reached the Cradle to Cradle Certified TM awards at Silver level. In 2016 Maiyet has also certified the yarn Fair 2/28 on Bronze level and continues working with EIG and C2CPII for extending the certification to their wool yarns and reaching the Gold level for already certified threads.

Simultaneously, EIG is working in other projects on the evaluation of fabrics, threads and colorants. Soon, we will tell you more.
